For many people, accessing basic banking services isn’t as easy as it should be. Large financial institutions often turn away those without a strong credit history or steady financial records. As a result, millions are left underbanked. Language barriers, high fees, and outdated systems make it even harder for these users to manage their money.
A client, a fintech innovator focused on financial inclusion, came to us with a bold vision: to create a neobank tailored for underbanked users. They wanted more than just another digital banking app – they aimed to combine full banking functionality with a unique rewards system to keep users engaged.
Uptech stepped in to help. Our team worked closely with the client to design and develop a Flutter-based neobank that delivers financial accessibility and gamified engagement. The app successfully launched on iOS and Android to help users take control of their finances.

The app introduced a unique system where users earned tickets for everyday banking activities and could use them to enter weekly draws. The challenge was to design this feature in an ethical way – to make it a reward, not gambling.
Solution
Users never had to pay to participate – tickets were earned through normal app usage. This kept engagement high without financial risk. Since we structured it as a bonus system rather than a betting model, the result was an ethical and engaging experience that met both regulatory and user expectations.
Fraud is always a high risk in banking apps, but the banking provider lacked built-in fraud detection tools. We needed a way to track and prevent fraudulent activity on our own.
Solution
We worked closely with the provider to strengthen fraud monitoring and implemented additional security tools. Our team quickly responded to potential threats and set up extra tracking systems to detect suspicious behavior and block fraudulent users before they could exploit the system.
The client had their own marketing team, so we had to ensure branding, communication, and product positioning matched while keeping development on track.

We kept communication open and made sure marketing efforts and product updates were in sync. We adjusted our workflows so that both teams had what they needed, and we helped everything run smoothly.
The client needed a well-functioning product but had strict budget constraints. So, we had to optimize resources without sacrificing quality.

We consistently maintained a cost-performance index of 100% or higher and made smart technical decisions to keep development efficient. This approach allowed us to stay within budget and deliver a strong final product.
Users can open a savings account, receive a debit card, and transfer money with ease. The app has everything for fast, secure transactions and supports the everyday banking needs of those with limited financial history.
The platform integrates with Plaid’s Identity, Balance, and Signal services. These tools verify user accounts, check available balances before transactions, and assess risk factors.
Robust security features protect users from fraud, including KYC verification, behavior analysis, and real-time transaction monitoring. The app tracks suspicious activity, enforces transaction limits, and ensures compliance with financial security regulations.
A built-in reward system encourages engagement by awarding tickets for everyday banking activities. These tickets can be used to enter weekly draws: Users earn rewards without spending additional money or taking financial risks.
A referral program allows users to invite friends and earn rewards for successful sign-ups. This feature incentivizes growth and engagement as more people gain access to banking services.
A bilingual interface supports both English and Spanish to make financial services more accessible to a wider audience. This feature helps users with language barriers navigate their accounts, perform transactions, and access key banking services easily.
The app passed extensive testing and delivered a stable and high-quality experience.
With a 95-96% defect escape rate,
it met strict quality standards and worked without major issues.
The team kept development on budget while making the app more efficient than originally planned. Smart choices in technology and resources helped improve performance without cutting corners.
